PureKernel Systems Limited has delivered an SMS prepaid billing gateway for a large mobile network (name undisclosed due to NDA) in the Middle East. The bespoke application, TextPass Router PSP-SAP5 Gateway (TPSG), mediates between mBalance TextPass SMS Router (TPR) platform and Acision's (previously LogicaCMG's) Prepaid Service Agent (PSA).
TPSG allow operators who already own or planning to invest in TPR or PSA, or both - to rate and charge for TPR initiated short messages over PSA. Charge requests are forwarded over IP interface from TPR to TPSG, and finally to PSA. TPSG converts bi-directionally from mBalance proprietary External Condition Interface (ECI) to Acision's PSA PSP-SAP5 protocol. TPSG is a clean breakthrough for operators who wish to invest in mBalance and Acision's SMS and Prepaid Charging products without incurring huge cost on inter-operability testing and integration.
TPSG is a unix based application; multiple instances may be run on various operating systems: including Linux, HP-Unix, and Sun Solaris. The functional capabilites of TPSG include sending charge requests to PSA, conveying PSA response back to TPR, sending refund requests in case of failed SMS delivery, and so on.
